Interns will start on six-month block rotations for their first year, after which residents rotate on three-month block schedules. This schedule is representative of a PGY1 resident who starts in Internal Medicine. Please note the available elective option as well.

Residents attend scheduled lectures and conferences in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics according to assigned rotations.
Residents present at Grand Rounds, Journal Club and Morning Report conferences as part of their scholarly activity. Residents are also strongly encouraged to participate in other scholarly activity such as publications and presentations at local, state, or national meetings during their training. Faculty support, funding (as available) and the resources of the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute are available for assistance in all aspects of these projects.
Resident call varies with each of the service rotations but remains well within compliance of ACGME essentials for accredited residency programs. Our programs comply with ACGME’s duty hours regulations, and program leadership is in consistent communication with residents regarding any difficults that may arise.
