Prerequisite training:

Admission to the Marshfield Clinic Health System Vascular Surgery Fellowship training program requires completion of a five-year residency program in general surgery. All fellowship trainees are required to be licensed by the state of Wisconsin to practice medicine.

Program Duration

Total duration of the program is two years. Fellows will receive comprehensive training in vascular surgery as well as vascular surgery research.​

Program Certification

The Vascular Surgery fellowship program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for the Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).


Mission Statement

Marshfield Clinic Vascular Surgery fellowship program's mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve through education, research and patient care while guiding and teaching fellowship physicians the art and science of vascular surgery in an environment that is safe and promotes intellectual curiosity, high professional standards and lifelong learning skills. Furthermore, our program focuses on providing a wide clinical experience that will serve and promote the health of the population of north central Wisconsin.

Program Aims

 Marshfield Clinic Vascular Surgery fellowship program's mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve through education, research and patient care. To further emphasize this, the program will provide educational opportunities in order to transform a fellow understanding and treatment of vascular disease through:

  • Providing compassionate, patient centered care meeting highest standards.
  • Developing and integrating research and technology in patient care.
  • Inspiring and educating future leaders in vascular care.
  • Additionally, fellows will need to be well versed in quality improvement and patient's safety with a special emphasis on value-based and team-based care. This includes an emphasis on lifelong learning: a graduate should be prepared to be a health care team leader and a community leader.

Training structure

  • Total duration of the fellowship training program is two years. Fellows with receive advanced training in clinical vascular surgery as well as academic research.
  • ​​Training is conducted in compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program requirements.

Facilities

Marshfield Medical Center provides care to a diverse patient population in rural Wisconsin. Fellows will be exposed to patients with a wide range of vascular pathologies which include but are not limited to: aortic, visceral and peripheral arterial aneurysms, carotid disease, peripheral arterial disease, dialysis access, central and peripheral venous clots/ occlusion, venous insufficiency and pelvic congestion syndrome, mesenteric ischemia and thoracic outlet syndrome. ​
