Overview
The program consists of a combination of educational rotations and longitudinal experiences. The PGY2 Medication-Use Safety And Policy Pharmacy Residency curriculum has been developed with the goal of fulfilling the required purpose listed above – specialized for practice in medication-use safety and policy roles.
Residents will regularly attend meetings (within and outside the Division of Pharmacy) and complete assigned projects under the guidance of preceptors.

Program purpose statement
PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.

The resident will be equipped with the necessary tools and experiences to function as an effective subject matter expert upon completion of the program.
A variety of project opportunities will be offered and tailored to a combination of the resident's interests and current needs of the Division of Pharmacy. The resident will also have responsibilities which are consistent with guidelines from ASHP. The goals, project opportunities, and resident responsibilities are outlined below.
