Knowing when it’s time to come in can help you feel more confident as labor begins.

True labor may include:

  • Contractions every five minutes
  • Each contraction lasting about one minute
  • Increasing intensity over time

False labor often includes:

Your care team is always here to guide you.

Breathing and relaxation techniques

These simple, effective tools can help you stay calm and focused during labor.

  • Begin and end contractions with a cleansing breath
  • Use abdominal or chest breathing for comfort
  • Try gentle panting during stronger contractions or pushing
  • Practice visualization or progressive relaxation to help conserve energy

Our nurses and providers will support you with these techniques throughout your labor.

After delivery

Your care continues the moment your baby arrives. We’ll guide you through:

  • Physical recovery and postpartum comfort
  • Episiotomy or incision care
  • Lochia (post birth bleeding) and what to expect
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Emotional changes in the days and weeks after birth

Be sure to schedule your postpartum checkup for about six weeks after delivery.
