Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake Volunteer Services

Volunteer escort with patient

Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake values community collaboration and relationships.

Would you like the rewarding experience of being part of a volunteer team at one of the most advanced hospitals in the region? There are many benefits to becoming a Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake volunteer, including:

  • Enriching your life
  • Learning new skills
  • Staying active
  • Making new friends
  • Making a difference in someone’s life!

Our volunteers contribute their diverse talents in many ways. What special skill do you have to offer? A kind word, a reassuring smile, customer service skills or perhaps clerical or office abilities are all of value. Whatever you can offer, you can do amazing things as a volunteer.

Just a little of your time can make a huge difference in the lives of others. We need YOU!

Become a hospice volunteer

Hospice volunteers are people of all ages and backgrounds. All have a desire to make a difference in someone else’s life by sharing their time, special talents and compassion with those dealing with a terminal illness.

Hospice volunteers may sit with a patient so the caregiver can make a doctor’s appointment, trip to the store or take a break or nap. They might cook the evening meal, do some light cleaning, run errands or sometimes most importantly, sit at the bedside and be a quiet, comforting presence. Hospice volunteers provide valuable clerical assistance to the staff in the Hospice office and participate in the bereavement services offered to family members after the death of their loved one.

Opportunities also exist for hospice volunteers to participle in patient and family services unique to Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake such as our “Life is a Celebration” dinner parties, Tuck In services, 11th Hour program and “PAWS with Heart” dog program.

Training is provided free of charge.

If you are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer, please contact Tammy Koger, Volunteer Services Manager at 715-236-6255 .

Become a volunteer partner

As a volunteer partner, you will be involved with patients and visitors at the hospital who need a smile, reassuring word and helping hand. Volunteer partners are anyone, including retirees, students, professionals and homemakers.

The amount of time you volunteer is up to you. Many people volunteer once or twice a week for 4 hours a day — some more and others less.

Volunteer opportunities exist in numerous departments within the hospital with a wide selection of duties and shift times; allowing us to conveniently place you in a position well suited to your lifestyle and interests.

If you are interested in joining our Volunteer Partner program, please contact Tammy Koger, Volunteer Services Manager at 715-236-6255.
