COVID-19 Surge Causing Disruptions in Care

​​​​​​​​​The COVID-19 surge across Wisconsin and in our service area has placed a significant strain on our Health System. 

You may experience disruptions in your care including increased wait times on our nurse and appointing lines; unexpected appointment changes due to staffing challenges; and a need to reschedule certain procedures. We apologize if you experience a disruption in your care during this time. Your health and safety is important to us.

Below is a list of disruptions you may experien​ce:

COVID-19 Test Results

Over the weekend (January 8-9), Marshfield Clinic Health System had more than 500 positive COVID-19 test results, far outpacing previous records during the pandemic. The increase in testing has resulted in significant backlogs. Given the current high demand, test results may take up to 72 hours to be returned.

Patients will be contacted directly by phone with test results. Please do not call the nurse line for test results. Patients can also monitor their My Marshfield Clinic account via the mobile app or web browser for results to be posted.

Rescheduling Appointments

We currently have a significant amount of staff out due to absence and illnesses. We also have had to shift staff to our hospitals to meet the demands of the current surge. For these reasons, we may not able to provide timely care to the best of our ability within some of our departments. In an effort to keep staff and patients safe, we may have to reschedule some non-urgent appointments and procedures.

Long Wait Times

We are experiencing high call volumes on our appointment and nurse lines at this time due to COVID-19 testing and vaccine demand. In some instances, you may have to wait up to 30 minutes to schedule your appointment. COVID-19 testing, COVID-19 vaccine and certain primary care (internal medicine, family medicine and pediatric) appointments can be scheduled via My Marshfield Clinic.​
