“I am passionate about optimizing the health of my patients so that they can get back to doing what they love.”
Nurse Practitioner Mariah Rayburn had a desire to work directly with people in her community. With a passion for health and wellness, a career in medicine was a way to care for and learn more about what can motivate people to seek a healthier lifestyle.
“In providing preoperative care, I enjoy educating my patients so that they can be physically and mentally prepared for their surgeries," she said. “I feel that with good preparation, they will see better outcomes and recovery times as a result."
Rayburn had a nursing background in peri-anesthesia care unit before advancing as a nurse practitioner in internal medicine. She uses her experience to continue to provide quality care to her patients and help ease any concerns that they may have.
Born and raised in central Wisconsin, Rayburn has worked within Marshfield Clinic Health System since 2013. Her mom retired from the Health System as an occupational therapist after a fulfilling career, and growing up, Rayburn was able to see many benefits of working at the Health System.
As a nurse practitioner, Rayburn feels that empathy and communication are important components of providing exceptional care.
“I feel that communication is one of the most important elements in providing patient care," she said. “By listening closely to my patients, I will be able to provide more individualized care and understand what my patients truly need."
In her free time, Rayburn enjoys many outdoor activities, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband, Jordan, met in elementary school in Pittsville. He is now a high school business teacher at Pittsville High School.
