“I love working with newborns and young families, and watching the children grow.”
When Dr. Kathryn Schaus heard that Hayward needed a pediatrician, she jumped at the chance.
“My husband Greg and I both love this area and being in the outdoors,” she said.
Dr. Schaus was a pediatrician for 26 years in Chippewa Falls and transfered to the Hayward Center more than three years ago.
“I love children, of course. I’ve always felt comfortable with them,” she said. “I also think I have a good rapport with parents.”
Dr. Schaus earned her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health in Madison. As a medical student, she did a rotation at Marshfield Clinic, which confirmed that it was a highly respected organization thathad opportunities for physicians wanting to practice in smaller and more rural communities. It’s comforting to know that,as a primary care provider, advanced specialtycare is available when needed.
She completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. She is not only board certifiedin pediatrics but also has three grown children of her own, who she credited with making her a better pediatrician.
Dr. Schaus and her husband, Greg Pautsch, enjoy biking, skiing, running and using the famous nearby Birkie Trail year-round.
