A specialist in endocrinology

Dr. Marita Fisher grew up knowing she wanted to be an internal medicine specialist and was driven toward endocrinology because she knew it would be a challenging career path in which she could make a difference in the lives of others. Growing up, she had family members who worked in health care, which made pursuing a medical career a natural fit.

As an endocrinologist, Dr. Fisher treats patients with a wide variety of health care needs, generally stemming from hormonal disorders.

Dr. Fisher earned her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, completed her internal medicine residency at University of Texas Medical Branch and finished her training with a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Her time in Madison was one of the reasons she wanted to stay in Wisconsin to establish her practice.

"I just really fell in love with the people of Wisconsin. I knew I wanted to make Wisconsin my home," Dr. Fisher said.

For Dr. Fisher, it is not only important to treat her patients but also to educate them about their care.

"I want my patients to understand that the care I am providing them is based on the best medical data available," Dr. Fisher said. "I think it’s important to clear up misinformation that patients may find online, so they have the clearest possible picture of their health."

She said she hopes patients will see her as knowledgeable, compassionate and a provider that "really takes the time to listen to her patients and address their concerns."

Outside of work, Dr. Fisher’s first priority is caring for her young children with the help of her husband. She also enjoys crocheting, reading and watching movies.
