Provider Bio down arrow

As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Tanimu specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions involving the gastrointestinal tract. He helps people with problems related to the entire digestive process.

Dr. Tanimu advocates using the latest technologies, including endoscopic ultrasound for better imaging, to better plan the right choice of treatments.

“It’s always important to know exactly what you’re dealing with to help determine which types of treatments to offer,” he says.

This can help patients that don’t really need surgery avoid it, and for those that do need it, give their physician the ability to know exactly what they’re dealing with before performing surgery.

An avid soccer player, Dr. Tanimu also enjoys tennis, traveling and reading.

Dr. Tanimu is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. He went to medical school at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria. He completed a residency in internal medicine as well as a fellowship in gastroenterology at Columbia University, Harlem Hospital Center, New York. While there, Dr. Tanimu was named the most outstanding fellow at Harlem Hospital Center. He also has additional fellowship training in advanced endoscopic oncology from Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida.
