Nicole Schmitz, D.O., is a family medicine physician serving the Neillsville community. Inspired by her mother's work as a family nurse practitioner, Dr. Schmitz knew early she wanted to pursue health care.
“I felt that guiding people throughout their health care journey was one of the most rewarding things I could do with my life," Dr. Schmitz said.
Her clinical interests include managing chronic conditions such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, arthritis and substance use disorder. She also has a strong focus on women's health, offering services such as Pap testing, Nexplanon and IUD placement/removal. Additionally, she is passionate about addiction medicine.
Dr. Schmitz's connection to Marshfield Clinic runs deep. Diagnosed with leukemia as an infant, she spent a year in the hospital before achieving remission. Her journey continued as a volunteen, CNA, clinical research coordinator and now, as a dedicated family physician.
“I value building long-term relationships with my patients and providing care that reflects what matters most to them," she said. Dr. Schmitz enjoys the variety that family medicine offers and the opportunity to care for entire families across generations.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her pets and UTV riding. A native of Chili, Wisconsin, Dr. Schmitz and her husband have one child.
