As a board-certified family practice
physician, Dr. Antoinette Hayek offers
primary care. She provides preventive care,
manages chronic conditions, and treats
minor illnesses and injuries for patients
of all ages. “I enjoy getting to know every
member of a family and helping them be as
healthy as possible,” she says.
“Family medicine is a specialty that
involves taking care of patients with a
wide variety of ailments,” she says, noting
that she often manages conditions like
hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease,
infections, arthritis and mood disorders. “In
my field, we have to be able to understand
and treat many kinds of diseases. We also coordinate overall care when other specialists are involved.”
Dr. Hayek emphasizes emotional well-being as part of overall wellness. “I want to help my patients feel better in all ways. If you have concerns that put you in a state of mind where you make poor decisions about your health, it can lead to situations where you’re not as healthy as you otherwise would be.” She works to help her patients avoid coping mechanisms like overeating and drinking alcohol that can actually make things worse, both emotionally and physically.
Dr. Hayek enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She likes skiing, exercise, running, hiking, travel, movies and attending the theater.
Dr. Hayek went to medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She completed a residency in family medicine at Mayo Clinic. She is board-certified in family practice.
