Professional cyclist Joe Eldridge to share his experience living with diabetes
Living with diabetes doesn’t have to slow you down. Professional cyclist and celebrity speaker Joe Eldridge is proof.
On Nov. 4, Eldridge, who rides for Novo Nordisk’s professional cycling team, Team Type 1, will share his experience living with Type 1 diabetes both on and off the bike. The free event also will feature health coaching, diabetes myth busters and a presentation by Marshfield Clinic health care providers who specialize in helping patients manage diabetes.
Eldridge, diagnosed with diabetes at age 10, travels the U.S. not only racing bicycles but to provide inspiration, education and outreach to others diagnosed with diabetes.
As part of the presentation, Melissa Eslinger, a certified medical assistant and part of Marshfield Clinic Eau Claire Center’s Endocrinology team, will discuss health coaching in her “It’s all in the Training,” presentation.
Endocrinologist Dr. Odette Morgan, nurse practitioner Kelly Tokarski, and registered dietitians Stacy Getten and Ashley Short, will then bust many myths that surround diabetes. The evening will close with a provider panel discussion and Q & A session.
On-site registration starts at 5:15 p.m., and is followed by presentations from 5:45-8 p.m., at Clarion Hotel, 2703 Craig Road, Eau Claire. Light refreshments will be provided.
You can learn more about Eldridge at the Team Novo Nordisk website.
