Marshfield Clinic Health System introduces new patient transport ambulances

Jan. 5, 2020

MINOCQUA – Marshfield Clinic Health System has launched a critical care transport ambulance service to better serve Northwoods residents in the Minocqua and Park Falls area.

The licensed critical care transport ambulances are located in Minocqua and will serve both communities. Each ambulance is staffed 24/7 with critical care level paramedics and nurses, the highest level of care recognized by the State of Wisconsin.

Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls continues to honor and fulfill commitments to the eleven municipalities it serves for 911 emergency services. Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua transport services are an additional value to the Park Falls community, especially as the need to move patients has increased with COVID-19. The ability of these emergency response teams to now work as one department ensures even more support of our most vulnerable patients

The Health System's recent acquisition of Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls and the opening of the new Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua now creates a stronger, integrated health care system in the Northwoods. The ambulance service provides consistent transport services between those two hospitals and, if needed, to our hospitals in Marshfield, Weston and other destinations for specialty care.

"We're improving the reliability of hospital transport services and providing resources to get care both close to home and our other nearby medical resources," said Ty Erickson, chief administrative officer, Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua. "Our new hospitals, ambulance service and hiring of new medical staff demonstrates our long-term commitment to the Northwoods."

The inter-facility transport service can handle patients of all ages experiencing everything from major trauma to critical illness.

"We have purchased all the most up-to-date equipment to outfit these ambulances," said Becky Lenz, nurse manager, Minocqua Emergency Department. "Not only are we staffed with very skilled and highly educated staff, but they have all the right equipment to provide that high level of care."
