Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls celebrates Phase 1 completion of hospital replacement project

Aug. 13, 2024

PARK FALLS – Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls celebrated a milestone in its partial-hospital replacement project with a ceremony in Park Falls on Tuesday, August 13.

The event, attended by Governor Tony Evers, marked the completion of Phase 1 of the project. The recently completed phase included adding new spaces for physical & occupational therapy, inpatient pharmacy and the 11-bed Med-Surg hospital unit.

“We're at the halfway mark of an exciting venture that ensures state-of-the-art medical technology and an innovative healing environment remain available for the Park Falls region for years to come," said Ty Erickson, president of the Marshfield Clinic Health System north market, which includes Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls.

Highlights of Phase 2 in the $35 million project include a retail pharmacy, a relocated urgent care and new spaces for several rehab services. Construction will ramp up following current work to demolish some of the decades-old buildings on campus. New flooring, furniture, and lighting upgrades will also enhance the Park Falls medical offices to align with the look and feel of the new campus. Completion of the entire project is targeted for 2025.

“One key aspect of this project is that the hospital and medical offices have and will continue to remain fully functional," said Erickson. “That means we are meeting patients' current health care needs while simultaneously showcasing our commitment to them in the future. Thank you to Governor Evers for his support and commitment to rural health.

The project is aided by a $20 million grant from the Healthcare Infrastructure Capital Investment Grant Program, which was awarded by Governor Evers in March 2022.

“Every Wisconsinite should have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare in our state, but we know that rural communities often face their own unique challenges that can stand in the way of folks getting the care they need," said Gov. Evers. “My administration was proud to be a partner in supporting the construction of this facility, which bridges an important gap in healthcare access and will allow Marshfield Clinic to continue providing the highest quality of care to folks in the Park Falls community and surrounding areas."

Marshfield Clinic Health System is partnering with Miron Construction Co. Inc. as the project's general contractor and the architecture firm BWBR.
