Erickson named CAO for Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua

Nov. 18, 2020

MINOCQUA – Rhinelander-native Ty Erickson has joined the Marshfield Clinic Health System as chief administrative officer for Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua. Erickson brings more than 20 years of health care leadership to his role with Marshfield Clinic Health System.

Erickson previously ser ved as senior vice president of operations for Essentia Health, an integrated health care system, serving patients in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Idaho. His accountabilities spanned multiple facilities, including five hospitals, three nursing homes and 24 clinics. Prior to his role at Essentia, Erickson served as CEO of Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minnesota, an integrated care delivery system that included a 57-bed hospital, 61-bed nursing home, 130 bed-assisted living facility and three clinics.

In his CAO role, he'll work with regional leadership including Dr. Mike Schaars, vice president of medical affairs, and Jackie Frombach, chief nursing officer for the eastern region. He also will serve as incident commander of the Minocqua COVID-19 response team as we continue to face the challenges the virus has posed to our Health System operations.

"Marshfield Clinic Health System is well known and has an exceptional reputation for the impact it has on the communities it serves. To have the opportunity to be a part of shaping the future of health care in the region is exciting and what drew me to the position," Erickson said. "Community-based health care is a personal passion and has been foundational throughout my career. It is a privilege and honor to join the Minocqua team and be back in Northern Wisconsin."

David Olejniczak, who served as interim CAO since February of this year, will help Erickson transition into this role.

"We want to thank David for his leadership and contributions to the Health System," said Dr. Bill Melms, Marshfield Clinic Health System chief medical officer. "From guiding the successful opening, operation and accreditation of our new hospital to leading the COVID-19 response in our northern region, David has put us in a strong position for continued success in the Northwoods."
