A nurse practition in wound care

Nicole Phillips is a family nurse practitioner specializing in wound healing. She treats patients with wounds from trauma or surgery, ulcers and skin irritation. Phillips also delivers hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

When she was just a kid, Phillips set her sights on the medical field.

"I took a first aid class in junior high with my mom and I enjoyed it," Phillips said. "By my high school years, I knew I wanted to be in medicine because I loved caring for people and there is always something new to learn."

Wound care was one of the first specialties Phillips worked in as a nurse practitioner. She enjoys the variety and the chance to get to know her patients on a deeper level.

"I fell in love with treating people and following their care, which I was unable to do as a hospital nurse," Phillips said. "I am able to treat wounds and the person as a whole. I feel like wound care chose me."

Phillips earned her master's in nursing at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon. She attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette for her bachelor's degree.
