Jack Scott, pain management nurse practitioner, sees patients for chronic pain.

Jack Scott is driven by taking care of people. He started his career as an English literature teacher, but was pulled toward healthcare.

"I had a conversation with my wife about wanting to be a nurse, and enrolled the next day in the nursing program in Eau Claire," he said. "I've enjoyed taking care of people and being someone to hold their hand or answer their questions. Teaching would have done that, too, but nursing truly fulfilled that need."

As a pain management nurse practitioner, he'll work with his patients to learn what's worked in the past for treatment, what hasn't worked and will help make treatment recommendations for his patient's care. He shares those treatment modalities may be in the form of physical therapy or medications.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know my patients, understanding their pain and helping them manage it," he said.

He sees and treats a variety of patients with chronic pain. His goal is to get to know his patients and to develop a relationship of trust.

"Having trust is important, because when I do make recommendations for their care, I want them to feel comfortable with that and move forward from there," he said.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downers Grove, Illinois.
