Dr. Gavin Ambrosi is a general surgeon who performs procedures on patients with both acute and chronic surgical issues. He is especially interested in laparoscopic and robotic techniques using the daVinci surgical system.
Dr. Ambrosi feels it is important to work with patients and his entire team to provide the best care and outcomes for his patients. Communication and understanding are key to the shared decision making process.
"The patient always comes first. I want to ensure my patients understand the treatment process and know that together we are making the best decision for their treatment," he said.
Dr. Ambrosi is also excited about providing health care in a rural setting.
"I was attracted to the Health System's mission of enriching lives through accessible, affordable, compassionate health care," said Dr. Ambrosi. "The Health System shares my dedication to quality rural health care. Although Minocqua is a small city, the Health System has the facilities to provide advanced, excellent health care for patients in a large geographic area."
Dr. Ambrosi completed his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan. He then completed his general surgery residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.
In his free time, Dr. Ambrosi values spending time with his wife and family and all outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, swimming, snow shoeing and snowboarding.
"I am excited I get to dedicate my career to an area focused on the community. The Northwoods provides a unique experience where I can be involved in a close-knit community, experience the great outdoors and work in a place that feels like I'm on vacation," he said.
