During college, Dr. Kelsie Offenwanger volunteered at a head start program where she saw the struggles that many children and families face.

"I saw passionate teachers, devoted parents, and curious learners stuck in a system with limited resources. However, I also saw the strength in these individuals and funneled my energy towards finding a career that would bring light to those that may feel as though their candle has burned out."

She said her goal is to empower children and families so they can build resilience. She works with patients who are experiencing disruptive behaviors, and those experiencing symptoms within the context of an autism spectrum disorder, which include emotional regulation, social relationships and nonverbal communication difficulties.

"I strive to empower patients to help teach them about how to engage in care, resources, and treatment, which will effectively promote health and prosperity," she said.

Dr. Offenwanger and her husband live in Illinois with their children and pets. In her free time, she appreciates spending time outdoors waterskiing, snowmobiling, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoys fishing for bass off the pier, throwing Frisbees for her dog and cheering on the Chicago Bears. Dr. Offenwanger and her family frequent the Northwoods of Wisconsin and Marshfield, too.
