Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls begins partial hospital replacement project

March 13, 2023

PARK FALLS – Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls began its partial-hospital replacement project this month, building on Marshfield Clinic Health System's commitment to the Price County area.

The $35 million project announced in 2021 is aided by a $20 million grant from the Healthcare Infrastructure Capital Investment Grant Program. The project will result in a state-of-the-art medical campus addressing the facility's aging infrastructure, improving outdated inpatient rooms, creating a dedicated urgent care space, and bringing new sleep study and retail pharmacy services to the hospital.

In addition to the construction of new hospital spaces, new flooring, furniture, and lighting upgrades will enhance the Park Falls Medical Offices to align with the look and feel of the new campus. The new hospital space will be constructed in two phases while the hospital and medical offices remain fully functional. Completion of the entire project is targeted for 2025.

“These significant updates will immediately improve patient care and ensure Marshfield Clinic Health System can continue to provide high-quality care for many years to come," said Jeff Euclide, president of Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls. “Park Falls and the surrounding rural communities have a unique, 100-year-old history with their hospital, and this investment will help carry that legacy into the next 100 years. Our patients, staff, and communities deserve best-in-class healthcare right here in the Northwoods, and that's what this project is all about."

During 2022, Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls has:

  • Attended to over 4,500 emergency room visits
  • Treated and discharged nearly 400 patients from the hospital
  • Conducted nearly 700 outpatient surgeries
  • Conducted over 45,000 outpatient appointments

“I'm proud of our work to support this new and improved facility in Park Falls that will help bridge an important gap in healthcare in rural Wisconsin through our Healthcare Infrastructure Grant Program," said Gov. Tony Evers. “Projects like this are exactly why we must continue this critical program in our 2023-25 biennial budget so we can help expand access to healthcare in communities across our state. This facility will better serve the Park Falls community for generations, and I congratulate Marshfield Clinic Health System and all the local partners involved as they take this next step toward bringing this project to fruition."

Marshfield Clinic Health System is partnering with Miron Construction Co. Inc. as the project's general contractor and the architecture firm BWBR.
