WESTON – Marshfield Clinic providers, leaders and staff will soon mark two decades of serving communities in the Weston area. October 4 is the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Weston campus, now called Marshfield Medical Center-Weston.
The facility originally opened as the Weston Regional Medical Center. It included Saint Clare's Hospital, Ministry Medical Group-Weston, Marshfield Clinic Weston Center and The Diagnostic & Treatment Center, a joint service of Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care.
At the time of opening, Marshfield Clinic Weston Center offered medical expertise in primary care and 20 specialties. It was the first Marshfield Clinic facility without paper medical charts.
Ascension Wisconsin acquired Ministry Health Care in 2013. In 2020, Marshfield Clinic purchased all of Ascension's assets and operations on campus, creating Marshfield Medical Center-Weston. The campus now includes a 90-bed hospital with a 24/7 emergency department and labor & delivery unit. It provides adult and pediatric primary care, access to over 50 specialties, critical care transport, imaging and lab services, pharmacy, physical therapy and surgical services.
“We're proud of this campus and what it means for our communities, and we will continue enhancing it to better serve patients," said Chris Soska, president of Marshfield Medical Center-Weston. “Just recently, we opened our Outpatient Surgery Center and Women's Health & Imaging Center, two state-of-the-art departments that add to the comprehensive care offered here."
Marshfield Medical Center-Weston employs more than 925 people. That includes more than 120 physicians and advanced practice clinicians.
“Our greatest asset has always been the people who work here," said Dr. Joel Nielsen, vice president of medical affairs. “With Marshfield Clinic's recent combination with Sanford Health, we're confident we'll be able to continue to recruit highly talented professionals for years and decades to come."
