Marshfield Clinic region of Sanford Health and Security Health Plan are proud to announce a $150,000 funding initiative aimed at supporting innovative, community-driven projects that address food insecurity and promote healthier lives across Wisconsin and Michigan's upper peninsula. The program, offered through Marshfield Clinic's Caring for Communities initiative, reflects a shared commitment to improving the well-being of individuals and families by supporting access to consistent, nutritious food.
Food insecurity – defined as limited or uncertain access to adequate food – remains a significant challenge for many households. It can lead to preventable health issues, increased stress, and reduced quality of life. By investing in local organizations that understand the unique needs of their communities, Marshfield Clinic and Security Health Plan hope to foster sustainable solutions that make a meaningful impact.
The program invites tax-exempt and government agencies serving communities within the Marshfield Clinic's service area to apply for grants of up to $10,000. These funds are intended to support projects that help individuals and families access the food they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
“Nutritious food is essential to good health, yet many in our communities face food insecurity – lacking reliable access to enough food for a healthy life," said Jay Shrader, vice president of Community Impact and Social Accountability. “This grant reflects our commitment to supporting local organizations that know their communities best and are working to remove barriers to food access and improve health at its roots."
Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Nov. 24, and selected awardees will be notified Dec. 10.
