“Every patient in my practice will be treated with respect, empathy and dignity."

Seeing the care and compassion her brother received during his hospital stays inspired Stephanie Newlun, NP, to pursue a career in medicine.

Her passion for pulmonary medicine stemmed from family who had received pulmonary care throughout her lifetime.

“I was surrounded by family who saw a pulmonologist for a variety of lung conditions, mostly asthma," Newlun said. “That piqued my interested and what ultimately led me to choose this field."

Newlun earned her associate degree in nursing from Rasmussen College in Wausau, Wisconsin, and her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Chamberlain University in Addison, Illinois.

As a pulmonary medicine nurse practitioner, she cares for patients with respiratory diseases and disorders, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease, tuberculosis, pneumonia, lung nodules and lung cancer.

“Every patient in my practice will be treated with respect, empathy and dignity," Newlun said. “Practicing medicine is not only about being able to diagnose and treat a disease but is also about listening to your patients and recognizing each patient is unique, even if they have the same disease as many other patients."

She strives to ensure her patients feel seen, heard and understood while helping them to feel better.

“I find it important to build rapport with patients and earn their trust," Newlun said. “I'll listen carefully to them, explain clearly and reassure them."

Outside of work, Newlun enjoys reading, camping, watching her children's sporting events and spending time with family and friends. She's a Wisconsin sports fan and enjoys watching the Packers, Badgers, Bucks and Brewers.
