“The greatest satisfaction comes when a patient recovers, and you see them thriving again."
Simran Soni, MD is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in treating cataracts and glaucoma. Dr. Soni offers the full range of glaucoma care, including emergency care and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
With an interest in medicine and surgery, treating patients who have glaucoma caught Dr. Soni's interest. “There are many ways I can help patients early and prevent blindness," she said. “Glaucoma runs in families, including my own, and I love when folks help me out by referring their family members at an earlier age."
Patient centered care is important to Dr. Soni. Every patient is different, and she works to find the right level of engagement for each patient, so they are informed about their condition and are comfortable with their treatment plan.
“I enjoy talking to my patients and making sure they have a better understanding of their disease," she said. “I hope they would talk about the time I spent with them getting to know their lifestyle and how that affects their vision needs."
Dr. Soni completed a glaucoma fellowship with Henry Ford Health System in Michigan. She completed a ophthalmology residency and earned her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine, Washington D.C.
While not at work, Dr. Soni enjoys reading mystery novels and trying new cuisines.
