Natalia Puig-Marquez, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine with a specialty focus on palliative medicine. She helps patients who are facing serious and often complex medical conditions.
Navigating decisions during illness is difficult, but Dr. Puig-Marquez helps patients and families by focusing on what matters most to them.
“Medicine is rarely black and white, and no two people are the same," she said. “I believe every individual deserves a thoughtful, personalized care plan that reflects their unique medical needs, values and life circumstances."
Dr. Puig-Marquez centers her care around taking time to listen, understand concerns and work closely with patients and their loved ones to address big worries, clarify options and ease decision‑making.
“I see my role as walking alongside patients through challenging moments," she said. “I offer guidance, empathy and support while helping them find the path that is best for them at their current stage of life."
Dr. Puig-Marquez completed a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee. She completed internal medicine and pediatrics residencies at Marshfield Clinic Health System. She earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences - Saint Kitts, Basseterre, Saint Kitts.
When not at work, Dr. Puig-Marquez enjoys spending time outdoors, especially kayaking, hiking and exploring nature with her two dogs. Being outside helps her recharge and stay grounded. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico and remains very close to her family there. “Staying connected with my family is an important part of my life and support system," she said.
“Every person is unique, and the best care happens when we take the time to listen, understand the whole picture, and make decisions together."
