Kristen Van Lieshout has many medical professionals in her family, but was most influenced by her mom, who is a nurse.
“I was inspired by the unique ability of nurses to connect with and help others, as well as the variety of opportunities available in the nursing profession," Kristen said.
Kristen completed her Master of Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She had worked with Marshfield Clinic's radiation oncology team as a nurse for 15 years before advancing her career. She now proudly works as a nurse practitioner with that same team.
She sees patients for side effect management during and after radiation treatment and provides patient education and survivorship care. She provides services for all types of cancer, including brain, breast, head and neck, prostate and skin cancers.
“I care for patients the way I would want a loved one to be cared for," she said. “I value working together with patients and families, supporting them through their cancer journey."
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, including her husband and their son. They enjoy being outdoors, traveling and going to baseball games, especially to see the Milwaukee Brewers.
