"I want my patients to have high quality of life and my job is to figure out how I can get them there."
Nurse Practitioner Kara Adam works primarily in the Heart Failure Improvement Clinic with patients who have multiple complex chronic health issues that affect the heart.
She treats patients dealing with congestive heart failure and provides care for patients with long-term heart problems.
"Heart failure is a lifelong condition, but with education and support, it can be managed," Adam said.
As a central Wisconsin native, Adam has extensive knowledge of the Marshfield community and its resources. She understands the importance and implements a holistic approach to care.
"I get as much enjoyment helping patients as they do for being cared for," she said. "Proper care doesn't just address medical problems. We need to consider the social, emotional, and financial impacts on health.
"I found my passion with long-term care and helping the older population take control of their health care. "Medical terms can be a complex foreign language to our older population and I want to break it down and help them understand."
Adam received her doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She is a board certified nurse practitioner.
Adam is married and the couple has six children. She enjoys cooking and traveling abroad whenever she can.
