As an emergency medicine physician, Benjamin Kamin, M.D., has to be ready for anything. He is the first line of defense for a variety of emergent medical needs and ailments at every stage. He says that's why he chose his specialty.
“I wanted to be able to help a person of any age with any problem at any time," Dr. Kamin said.
For medical school, he attended the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee before completing a residency at Central Maine Medical Center and a fellowship at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. During all of his training, he developed his patient-first philosophy.
“My goal is to treat each patient as if they are the most important person in my personal life," Dr. Kamin said. “I listen and try to understand each person's unique concerns and perspectives."
In addition to treating patients in the emergency department, Dr. Kamin teaches future health care workers. He is a clinical adjunct assistant professor in the department of emergency medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. During his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling and downhill skiing.
