"Providing the best care for children means supporting their parents. Helping parents be the best they can be for their children is very important to me."
Dr. Lamont is a strong believer in involving and educating the parents of the children he cares for. That philosophy turns treating a child's earache, for example, into an opportunity to build trusting relationships: "I use teaching otoscopes, which lets the parent see what I see when I examine the child's ear."
Having been in practice for nearly 30 years, some of Dr. Lamont's former patients have come to his office with children of their own. "The conversation starts with, 'You might not remember me, but…' and you know what they'll say next," he laughs. "I haven't seen any grandchildren of my first patients, but I'm sure that day is coming."
He and his wife have two adult children themselves. A skilled vocalist who loves to sing, Dr. Lamont performs with the Wausau Lyric Choir and the Wausau Conservatory of Music, singing arias, classical music, broadway and pop music.
Dr. Lamont completed medical school at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and his pediatrics residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He is board-certified in pediatrics.
