“My main interest is sports-related injuries, particularly reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder,” says Dr. Cecchini. “I also take care of general orthopedic problems like fractures; overuse injuries; and cartilage, muscle and ligament tears.” Most of his patients are young athletes or active adults in recreational sports. “I like working with patients who are involved in their health care and motivated to get better,” he says.

Dr. Cecchini focuses his practice on advanced procedures that can restore function. “Our repair techniques — even for ACL injuries — are all done arthroscopically now, which is less invasive. We also have new options for attaching, grafting and implanting torn ligaments that make it easier for the body to heal.” These new alternatives allow Dr. Cecchini to help many athletes recover function more quickly.

Family is important to Dr. Cecchini. He, his wife and their three children spend a week each year with his extended family. “Everyone from 2 years old to 80 years old shows up,” he says. “It’s a great time to reconnect.” Both of his sons are very active in school sports. His daughter does competitive horse barrel racing.

Fellowship-trained in sports medicine, Dr. Cecchini is also board certified in orthopedic surgery. He earned his medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Boston University Medical Center. His sports fellowship training was at Graduate/MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA.
