Sophie Grupe, family medicine physician assistant, sees patients of all ages for acute and chronic concerns, yearly physicals, routine screening, mental health and more.
As a family medicine provider, Sophie Grupe enjoys the variety that comes with the specialty.
“Being able to provide care for newborns and 100-year-old patients all in the same day is rewarding," she said. “I feel that family medicine was the specialty that allowed me to make the greatest improvements in my patients' quality of life, which brings me so much joy."
She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from Bethel University in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
She sees patients of all ages for acute concerns, such as upper respiratory symptoms, urinary tract infections, abdominal pain and ear infections and chronic concerns such as diabetes, high blood pressure and mental health. She also conducts yearly physicals, medication checks, routine screening and bloodwork.
As a provider, she believes establishing trust and mutual respect with her patients is the most important element in providing care.
“When the patient feels they can trust me and have open communication, we can work together to make a treatment plan that's individual to them and fits with their lifestyle and values," she said. “I find that patients feel much more in control of their health when they are involved in forming their treatment plan."
Outside of work, she enjoys hot yoga, rollerblading, walking, spending time with her fiancé, friends and family, being outdoors, playing with her cat, Smokey, and trying out local coffee shops.
