Dr. Ruta Pakalns gained an early interest
in medicine from watching TV shows like
“Marcus Welby, M.D.” and “Dr. Kildare.”
She was always fascinated by science
and the human body, and ultimately
decided to pursue a career in medicine.
“I want my patients to be wise about
the simple things they can do to make
their health better,” she said. “This
includes exercise, nutrition and taking
care of their souls and spirit. I’ve been
able to help patients make positive
improvements in their health and their
ability to deal with the problems they
were concerned with.”
Dr. Pakalns earned her medical degree
from the Medical College of Wisconsin in
Milwaukee. She completed her residency
in family medicine from the same institution and its affiliated hospital, Good
Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee.
She enjoys gardening, hiking, art,
architecture, travel, yoga and pursuing
activities to minimize her “carbon
footprint” on the environment. She has
two sons.
