Genetics captured Kyle Salsbery’s
attention in college, so it made sense
for him to pursue a master’s degree in
“Genetic counseling is a great balance
of the science of genetics, which I’m
fascinated by, and getting to work directly
with patients,” Kyle said. “I really enjoy
the chance to educate patients about
genetics as it relates to their health.”
Kyle grew up in rural Indiana on a farm,
so coming to Marshfield, another rural
community, was a great fit for him.
His top priority is to educate patients
so they can make informed decisions
regarding genetic testing and how it
relates to their health.
“When patients leave my office, I want
them to feel like they gained something
valuable from their visit,” Kyle said.
For Kyle, the best part of being a genetic counselor is when he can provide answers that patients may have been seeking for a long time.
“I really enjoy when I’m able to help a patient put the pieces of the puzzle together in regard to their health,” he said.
Kyle earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Taylor University in Indiana and his Master of Science degree from the University of Michigan.
In his free time, Kyle and his wife like to volunteer in their community. They also like spending time outdoors together gardening, and Kyle is an avid reader.
