Certified Nurse Midwife Julie Roark has always been fascinated by the human body, and had a calling to help people. Nursing brings her two interests together perfectly. Working as a labor and delivery nurse, Julie became acutely aware that women and families in her community need and deserve more choices when it comes to not only childbirth, but also health care in general.
“I really think that the most important thing I do when seeing a patient is to listen," she said. “If you take the time to really listen to your patient and let them tell their story, it's amazing what you can pick up on to help treat them more effectively."
Julie cares for women during pregnancy and childbirth, along with providing education and support on contraception, menstruation issues, menopause management, sexually transmitted infection diagnosis and treatment and well-woman care.
“Ultimately, women know what works for them and what doesn't, I'm just here to listen and provide support and evidence-based solutions," Julie said.
She earned her bachelor's in nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and her Master of Nursing in Midwifery at Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky.
Growing up in Plover, Julie is happy to be serving women and families in her community. She is an avid runner for her health and recreation. She also enjoys spending time outside doing activities with her family, including camping, hiking and biking. She and her husband have two children. When she has time, Julie likes to crochet, cook and bake.
