Dr. Jaren Thomas, board-certified internal medicine specialist, focuses on getting to know the whole person. “I welcome the opportunity to hear about my patients’ families, interests and other important factors in their lives. It helps me see their big picture.”
Internal medicine physicians provide long-term, comprehensive care to adults. “I am fascinated by several systems of the body and didn’t want to specialize in just one. I’m one of those people who enjoys most anything.”
Dr. Thomas is a big advocate of preventive care and early intervention of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and other lung and cardiovascular issues. He also does small, in office procedures rather than sending the patient to another doctor.
He practices evidence-based care in his daily interaction with patients, which uses the best available research results in making health care decisions. “We must make sure we are doing things, or not doing things, for a reason.”
A native of Antigo, Dr. Thomas wanted to return to the area because he was impressed with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s strong background in medical education and excited by the possibility of teaching students here. Having completed his medical training at the Medical College of Wisconsin and practicing as an Internal Medicine physician there for the last five years, he received many honors for teaching excellence.
Dr. Thomas and his wife are Antigo natives and have two daughters. He is a Milwaukee Brewers fan, and enjoys hiking, tent camping and is a “well-rounded” movie buff.
