“It is paramount that my patients feel heard and that they understand their plan of care."
Jamie Conner, cardiology nurse practitioner, had shadowed nurses and physicians while in college and fell in love with the field of medicine.
“I knew this is what I wanted to do with the rest of my life," he said.
He received his Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from the University of South Alabama. He originally came to Wisconsin to work with the hospitalist group at St. Clare's Hospital in Weston. When they joined Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2020, he stayed on with the hospital and the team he enjoyed working with. During his time as a hospitalist nurse practitioner, he spent a lot of time caring for patients admitted with cardiovascular concerns.
He sees patients with ailments including coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension and syncope.
“As their provider, it is paramount that my patients feel heard and that they understand their plan of care," he said.
Jamie also enjoys learning about the hobbies and interests of his patients so that he can know the whole person, not just the 'patient'.
