Dr. Demet Gokalp Yasar joined
Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2015
to provide complete cancer care for
people in the Northwoods.
“I chose to come to the Northwoods area
because it provides exceptional indoor
and outdoor activities,” said Dr. Gokalp
Yasar. “I wanted to raise my family in a
friendly and kindhearted community.”
“In my spare time, I enjoy playing volleyball
and swimming,” said Dr. Gokalp Yasar.
“At every opportunity, I like to take the kids
for outdoor activities. We are all learning
skiing, and enjoying biking and hiking.”
Dr. Gokalp Yasar’s professional interests
include research on breast cancer,
immunotherapy and lung cancer. She is
currently the activity director for local
cardiothoracic and breast tumor boards.
“I wanted to join Marshfield Clinic Health System because of their advanced clinical care and the availability of participation in research trials for patients. It is a multi-specialty clinic that can provide comprehensive individualized patient care.
“I’ve seen and treated a wide variety of hematological and oncological diseases including rare types of cancers, working in one of the biggest and busiest hospitals in the Long Island, New York area. I brought that experience here to help patients in Northern Wisconsin,” Dr. Gokalp Yasar said.
Dr. Gokalp Yasar completed her medical degree at Hacettepe University Medical Faculty in Ankara, Turkey. She completed residencies in Internal Medicine at Gazi University Medicine Faculty Hospital in Ankara, Turkey, and also at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Chicago Medical School, Chicago, IL. She went on to complete her Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Hofstra North Shore, LIJ Health System in New York, NY.
