“My goal as a surgeon is to give each patient an individualized treatment program, working in concert with my non-operative colleagues, to exhaust all conservative treatment options, when possible."
Dr. Eisenhauer, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, helps patients with a variety of orthopedic issues and injuries; with a focus on pathology of the upper extremity, including shoulder, elbow and hand.
He is fellowship-trained in orthopedic trauma, hand/upper extremity and microvascular surgery.
Dr. Eisenhauer was drawn to orthopedics midway through his college career. “In college I was always intrigued with the biomechanics of pitching and why my elbow constantly hurt," he said. “Then, while going through training to become an Army medic, something just clicked for me and I knew that I wanted to become a surgeon and help athletes and others who were limited by their injuries."
A connection to his patients is important in diagnosing and building a treatment plan. “Not every orthopedic patient needs surgery," Dr. Eisenhauer said. He starts by really listening to patients. “They tell me their story and describe their pain and limitations; and that, paired with a good physical exam, allows me an understanding of not only the patients orthopedic issue, but their overall goals." This allows him to build a treatment plan with the patient, not just for the patient.
Dr. Eisenhauer earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa.
When not at work, Dr. Eisenhauer is spending time with his wife and four children on the lake or on the slopes. He enjoys outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, wake surfing and snow skiing. He currently works with the US Ski and Snowboard teams as a team physician.
