Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care are co-title sponsors once again for the 2nd annual "No Frills Minocqua Marathon. The race will be held Sunday, September 1, on the Bearskin Trail in Minocqua.
"The event is planned to accommodate those who aspire to run their first marathon, as well as veteran runners trying to better their times or qualify for the Boston Marathon," said Blain Nyberg, Marshfield Clinic Pharmacy Manager and event originator. "We are keeping it simple to keep it affordable because, at this marathon, it's all about the race."
Cost to participate in the marathon will be $35 through Friday, August 30th. You may register online at www.minocquanofrillsmarathon.com or at www.tandhtiming.com.
You may also register at the Minocqua Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, August 31 until 1:00 p.m. or on Sunday, September 1 between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. at the registration/bib pick up table at Nokomis Park on Highway L (old Highway 51) south of Minocqua.
The race will begin at 7:00 a.m. at Nokomis Community Park and follow the Bearskin Trail back to finish at the trail head behind the Minocqua Post Office.
"Many marathon runners find it difficult to get qualifying times, or even complete some of the marathons to qualify for Boston," Nyberg explained. "This additional event in Minocqua gives them another option, so we hope it will be a very successful race for everyone."
