The HOPE Consortium has announced that registration is now available for the fifth annual HOPE Consortium Conference that will be held virtually this year on Aug. 5-6.
The conference is designed for treatment and recovery service providers, criminal justice partners, human services, prevention professionals, and community and tribal leaders featuring sessions on substance use disorder treatment and recovery. Individuals who work or reside in Clark, Forest, Iron, Jackson, Portage, Price, Oneida, Vilas, or Wood counties or Forest County Potawatomi, Ho Chunk, Lac du Flambeau Chippewa, or Sokaogon Chippewa tribal nations are encouraged to attend. However, anyone interested in substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery in rural Wisconsin is invited to attend.

Attendees appreciate “… the selection of topics, interesting speakers and ability to ask questions" as one 2020 virtual participant noted. Wayne Sorenson, Project Manager with Family Health Center, Marshfield Clinic Health System is excited to announce, “that with the virtual platform, the number of sessions for the 2021 conference has nearly doubled with 29 sessions and will feature three keynotes on substance use disorder treatment and recovery. New for this year is a four-hour ethics and boundaries training on Aug. 5."
The virtual conference meets attendee needs in the current environment. A 2020 participant stated “This virtual conference not only exceeded my expectations, it showed me how much more information I'm capable of processing and retaining in this method versus in person." Another indicated “It was the perfect venue in general, not just because of COVID-19. I would recommend that this be offered all the time."
The HOPE Consortium, formed in 2015, is a partnership of organizations in northern Wisconsin that came together in response to grant funding available under Wisconsin HOPE legislation to address growing problems associated with opioid misuse. It was expanded in 2017 to include the provision of care for those affected by methamphetamine use, and expanded in 2020 to central Wisconsin. Those served include adults and affected family members, with priority for those of childbearing age, who live in Clark, Forest, Iron, Jackson, Portage, Price, Oneida, Vilas, or Wood counties or Forest County Potawatomi, Ho Chunk, Lac du Flambeau Chippewa, or Sokaogon Chippewa tribal nations, who are seeking substance use disorder treatment and recovery support.
Family Health Center of Marshfield, Inc. serves as the grantee and provides staff support to the HOPE Consortium. The HOPE Consortium is funded in part by Family Health Center of Marshfield, Inc., a member of Marshfield Clinic Health System and Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Care and Treatment Services.
