Marshfield Clinic Health System offers funding to address health disparities

Sept. 5, 2023

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Clinic Health System and Security Health Plan have dedicated $200,000 to drive innovative, community-led projects that improve health equity, including social determinants of health (SDOH).

The program, titled Addressing Health Disparities, seeks to improve health equity by addressing health disparities. Health disparities are preventable differences in health between groups that are experienced by groups with social, economic, and/or environmental disadvantages. Health equity is achieved when health disparities are eliminated and everyone can attain their full potential for health and well-being, regardless of education level, socio-economic status, race, sex, sexual orientation, geographic location, disability, or other dimensions of inequality.

The Health System encourages tax-exempt and government agencies serving communities within the Health System service area to apply for up to $10,000 for programs to improve health equity for underserved or marginalized populations.

“Our mission is to enrich lives through accessible, affordable compassionate health care," said Jay Shrader, vice president of Community Impact and Social Accountability. “We can't do that without partnering with community organizations to address the community conditions and systems that prevent people from attaining their full health potential."

Applications will be accepted through 5:00 p.m. CDT Monday, October 9, 2023. Awardees will be notified on Monday, October 23, 2023. For additional eligibility and funding information, and to access the application, visit https://marshfieldclinic.smapply.org/prog/AddressHealthDisparities.
