Penny Thompson battled breast cancer for 13 years, spending many days in Marshfield Clinic Ladysmith Center’s treatment exam room.
She lost her fight with cancer last July, but her husband, Steve Thompson, and two close friends, Colleen Koditek and Ellen Stephenson, have found a fitting way to pay tribute to Penny and the staff that cared for her.
Two new recliner chairs and televisions recently were delivered to the Ladysmith Center, thanks to the generosity of Steve, Koditek and Stephenson. The furniture and TVs will enhance a comfortable setting for cancer care and infusion patients.
The gifts are the group’s way of honoring a wife and dear friend, and also showing their appreciation for the care Penny received at the Ladysmith Center. In particular, Steve singled out longtime Marshfield Clinic nurse Anne Vanden Heuvel for the care she provided. Vanden Heuvel works in the treatment and patient infusion department.
A short dedication will be held at 4 p.m., Nov. 15 in the Ladysmith Center treatment room to recognize Steve, Koditek and Stephenson for their donation.
