Milwaukee Art Museum - Degas to Picasso

Reservations required by December 30, 2017

Trip includes bus transportation aboard a Lamers deluxe motor coach, lunch in a private dining room at the Milwaukee Art Museum and a docent-lead tour of “Degas to Picasso”. Space is limited to 32 participants.

  • 7:30 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. Board bus at Marshfield Clinic

  • 8 a.m. Bus departs from Marshfield
  • 11:30 a.m. Arrive at Milwaukee Art Museum
  • Noon - 2 p.m. Lunch and guided tour of “Degas to Picasso”
  • 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Explore museum on your own
  • 3:15 p.m. Board bus for departure from art museum
  • 3:30 p.m. Bus departs Milwaukee
  • 7 p.m. Bus arrives at Marshfield Clinic

About the exhibit

Degas to Picasso: Creating Modernism in France

The exhibit showcases works by Manet, Van Gogh, Delacroix, Cézanne, Cassat, Chagall and others at it traces the development and evolution of modern art. Transformative movements such as Impressionism and Cubism are represented in 150 paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures.

Beginning in the nineteenth century, Paris became the center of modern art. Artists from around the world gathered in its studios, galleries, salons and museums and began charing a new course in art. They moved away from traditional subjects and styles in favor of experimentation and abstraction.

Chronological in its presentation, this exhibition focuses especially on works on paper, highlighting the different ways that modern artists used drawings and prints and the crucial role these media played in their artistic practices and the development of modern art.
