Physical Therapist Assistant Jeanne Sykora joined Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2013. She was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and grew up in the Marshfield, Wis., area.
Jeanne received her bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls, where she met her husband. She has been licensed as a personal trainer since 2008.
While in River Falls she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), with a significant exacerbation that left her entirely paralyzed except for her eyes (Locked In Syndrome). Her recovery included much physical therapy, which ignited her passion for physical therapy.
She went on to pursue her physical therapist assistant degree and graduated from Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, Wis, with their first graduating class of physical therapist assistants in 2013.
Jeanne and her husband have three grown children,and live in Minocqua. She now has issues with muscle spasticity, which she addresses with a myriad of daily exercises and activities.
“I am excited to do what I love, and do it at such a fabulous facility,” Jeanne said. “Woodruff Center has so much to offer including the therapeutic pool, outdoor facilities and wide range of indoor options and equipment. As a P.T.A., I work closely with the physical therapists as part of a team. The Woodruff staff is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and collaborative.”
“Fitness and exercise are my main hobbies, and I enjoy the many local lakes for kayaking, and the cross-country ski and bike trails,” she said.
Jeanne has advanced training in aquatic therapy and is certified in LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Training), a specialized therapy for Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological disorders.
