What is the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Clinic?

The Bone Health and Osteoporosis Clinic knows strong bones are essential to a healthy lifestyle. We help you maintain that important foundation.

Our team of health care providers works together to promote bone health and help you reduce risk of fractures related to osteoporosis.

We are recognized with star performer status by the American Orthopedic Association’s Own the Bone program, which uses 10 clinically-proven prevention measures to help address osteoporosis-related fragility fractures.

Our job is to serve you. The Bone Health and Osteoporosis Clinic:

  • Identifies, screens, tests and evaluates those at-risk
  • Educates you on how to maintain healthy bones
  • Provides resources that help you manage bone health issues
  • Coordinates access to physicians and physical therapists
  • Works closely with your full care team

Where is the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Clinic?

Our Bone Health and Osteoporosis Team can see you in a variety of offices across our system. Locations include Marshfield, Wausau, Weston, Eau Claire, Rice Lake, Ladysmith and Chippewa Falls. We are also able to provide services via telehealth to limit the amount you need to travel for care.

Who do I see during a bone health visit?

Our bone health clinic and osteoporosis team consists of physicians, staff and physical therapists with interest and experience in treating bone health issues. This team  works together to evaluate your bone health and develop a treatment plan to meet your needs.

Your bone health provider then shares your bone health evaluation with your primary care provider. This helps your provider understand your unique needs and individualize your care.

Typical appointments may include:

  • Lab tests and a bone density test
  • A visit with a doctor to discuss test results and your care plan
  • A visit with a physical therapist specifically focused on osteoporosis rehabilitation
  • Starting you on a new medication, if needed
