Growing up in small-town Bemidji,
Minnesota, Dr. Rebecca Allen had a
wonderful family doctor, and that
experience influenced her to pursue her
own medical career.
“I would go to the hospital with him, or
he would take me on home visits. I got to
see firsthand what an old-fashioned family
doctor did. That had a big impact on me,”
Dr. Allen said.
As Dr. Allen went through her medical
training, the aspect of it she liked most
was working with children. Dr. Allen’s
mother was a kindergarten teacher and
encouraged her daughter to pursue a
career in pediatrics.
“I really just enjoy talking to kids,” Dr. Allen said. “Half of my patients now are the children of kids I saw years ago when they were little. I enjoy that because I’ve been able to see kids develop from an early age to the point where they have their own children.”
Dr. Allen strives to treat patients the way she would want her family and friends to be treated. She wants her patients to feel she is easy to talk to and truly cares about their well-being.
Dr. Allen earned her medical degree from University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her residency in pediatrics with Marshfield Clinic at our Marshfield Center.
Dr. Allen and her husband have five children, three who are adults and 15-year-old twin boys. In her free time she likes to garden, scrapbook, hike and camp.
