“I want patients to feel that I cared about them and was responsive to their needs.”

Provider Bio down arrow

Dr. Julie Dietz is a pediatric cardiologist and helps children and parents deal with heart issues that appear or are present at birth.

Dr. Dietz decided she wanted to work in pediatrics while a teenager growing up in her native northern Minnesota – one of her teachers noted that she truly liked people. Dr. Dietz has applied this personal interest in others to what she describes as a “most rewarding” career, treating young people from infants to young adults for a variety of congenital and acquired heart conditions.

“I love treating children,” she said. “They’re resilient, eager to cooperate and a lot of fun. I enjoy seeing their smiles everyday.”

She also advocates a close, collaborative relationship with her patients’ families. “I like to team up with parents in the healing process,” she said. “I teach them as much as possible about potential symptoms and reactions so they’ll know how to respond if necessary.”

Dr. Dietz earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Medical School, Minneapolis. She completed her internship at Wayne State University-Detroit Medical Center, and her residency at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, Rochester, Minnesota. She completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Dr. Dietz also serves as a clinical assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Madison.

She has four children. She enjoys spending time with her family.
