“My goal is to help my patients live full, active lives with their allergies or asthma.”
Dr. Farhat Kokan has been seeing patients at Marshfield Clinic since 1998, and depending on the time of year, she is one of Marshfield Clinic’s busiest providers. As the only allergy specialist in northwest Wisconsin, her practice spikes when the ragweed and pollen season are in full swing. Sneezing, hacking, watery eyes and breathing problems are among the complaints she hears from patients suffering with allergies, asthma or immunology issues. “The immune system has always fascinated me,” she says. “I strive for each of my patients to enjoy the outdoors during the pollen season symptom free.”
Kokan, who also sees patients at the Chippewa Falls center, welcomed the opportunity to join Marshfield Clinic after hearing about the organization’s stellar reputation. “I kept hearing about the wonderful group of physicians in different specialties and the valuable research that is conducted at the Clinic.” A medical school graduate of Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, Dr. Kokan completed her residency at St. Albans Hospital in Herts, England and later a fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
As a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, Dr. Kokan has expertise in a wide range of medical conditions that include asthma, hay fever, eczema, food and drug allergies, latex allergies, bee sting reactions, chronic cough and primary and secondary immune deficiencies. Patients can expect that she will map out a course of treatment that offers the best possible outcome.
Married with two children, Dr. Kokan enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with her family.
