In addition to performing heart, lung and open vascular surgery, Dr. Lee provides image-guided endovascular procedures and oversees a wound clinic, providing a continuity of care that makes him unique among area cardiovascular surgeons. Dr. Lee takes each patient's specific situation into account when choosing treatments.
He performs both off -pump and on-pump heart surgeries, depending on what's most appropriate. "It's all about what will provide the best result for that individual patient," he says. "I have been practicing in the Wausau area since 2001, but the highlight is certainly launching the Weston heart program and making it successful." The program immediately began achieving stellar marks for quality measurements that far surpass national averages. These results are even more impressive when you consider that the program doesn't shy away from treating patients with higher risk factors.
With a busy practice, Dr. Lee likes to relax with quality family time. He enjoys the simple pleasures of just talking and sharing time with his wife and three sons. Dr. Lee earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed a general and vascular surgery residency at George Washington University in Washington D.C., and a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at State University of New York in Buffalo. Board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Lee was also a research fellow in cardiac surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston.
